Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor, was brought in by Hunters Contracts Scotland (HCS), to support its refurbishment project at Pacific Quay for Disclosure Scotland, an executive agency of the Scottish Government.
The HCS Group, a national provider of building and facility support services, was awarded the contract to upgrade the office and employee facilities to Disclosure Scotland’s operational and headquarters building, including new flooring in the main cafeteria on the ground floor.
Designer Contracts’ project brief was to design a new floor, uplift the existing covering, prepare and then install new. The work was carried out by the company’s fully trained fitters over two weekends to minimise any disruption to Disclosure’s day-to-day activities.
The main cafeteria is a high traffic area so luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) were recommended and installed because of their easy to maintain features and hardwearing nature, which made them an excellent choice. These natural looking floors are warm, comfortable and easy to clean, as well as being extremely durable with resistance to stains and scratching.
Steven Jenkins, HCS, said: “We chose Designer Contracts for this project as it has a reputation as one of the most reliable suppliers in the market and the service it provided has been second to none. It also has national buying power and is able to offer the top brands, which means we were then able to offer our customer, Disclosure Scotland, the highest level of choice at a very high standard.”
Peter Kelsey, md of Designer Contracts, said: “With the cafeteria at Disclosure’s headquarters being so busy, luxury vinyl tiles were the perfect choice.
“In an industry where it can be easy to over promise and under-deliver, the biggest benefit to any contractor is that Designer Contracts stays very brief driven. It’s about listening to what clients want to achieve and using our experience to fulfil their expectations.
“We look after our clients and are in it for the long term. We know that if we fail to deliver once, that might be the end of the relationship, so we work hard to support our clients even after project completion.”
Designer Contracts completed a further project for HCS at its new offices in Glasgow. The brief included design of a unique entrance to the facility including using the same tiles to blend a door with the main walls to create a hidden effect. The company installed the flooring and wall tiles over two weekends to ensure there was no interruption to HCS’s day- time operation.
