With the help of Designer Contracts and a number of other companies, members and supporters of The Furniture Makers’ Company have raised £57,000 for the industry charity after successfully completing a 450-mile cycle ride from London to Bordeaux.
The 22 cyclists left Guildhall, London on Sunday 11th September, pedalling an average of 80 miles a day passing through Nantes, La Rochelle and Royan before arriving in Bordeaux on Friday 16th September, where they were met by friends, family and Anne-Marie Cazalet, a representative of the local Mayor.
Organiser, bike rider and Master of the Furniture Makers Company Ben Burbidge paid tribute to participants and sponsors, saying: “The money raised will go a long way to helping The Furniture Makers’ Company achieve its aims of educating young talent for the future, driving excellence and helping people who have fallen on tough times.”
