Designer Contracts’ Simon Westley Appointed to UKSFA Board as the Trade Association Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability
Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor, is proud to announce that Simon Westley has been appointed to the Board of UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance (UKSFA), joining a distinguished group of industry leaders tasked with helping drive the organisation’s strategic priorities around engagement, takeback schemes and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
Simon is one of eight new Board members welcomed by the UKSFA, bringing extensive industry knowledge and practical expertise from across the flooring supply chain. His appointment reflects Designer Contracts’ long-standing commitment to sustainability and circular economy principles within the flooring sector.
Designer Contracts has been an active and invested member of the UKSFA for more than a decade, playing a leading role in promoting sustainable flooring practices. Over the years, the company has been recognised with multiple industry awards for its environmental initiatives, particularly its innovative carpet recycling and takeback scheme, which ensures that all carpet waste collected through the programme is diverted from landfill.
Commenting on his appointment, Simon Westley said:
“I am honoured to join the UKSFA Board at a time when sustainability and responsible resource management are higher on the industry agenda than ever before. Designer Contracts has worked closely with the UKSFA for more than 10 years and has seen firsthand the positive impact collaboration can achieve. I look forward to contributing to the Board’s work as we help shape a more sustainable future for the flooring sector.”
The UKSFA recently announced the appointment of eight new Board members – Kate Burnett, Jennifer Bishopp, M. Ranae Anderson, Darlene Sammut, Simon Westley, John Gibbs, Linda Thomas and Tony Spreckley – who join existing Board members Andy Hall, Richard Catt and Mike Dobson.
The appointments support the organisation’s strategic focus on strengthening industry engagement, advancing takeback initiatives and preparing the sector for the continued development of Extended Producer Responsibility frameworks.
Designer Contracts’ sustainability credentials have been built through years of investment in recycling infrastructure, responsible waste management and collaborative industry partnerships. The company’s award-winning takeback initiative continues to support customers and manufacturers in reducing environmental impact by ensuring carpet waste is recovered and diverted away from landfill wherever possible.
As sustainability expectations continue to evolve across the construction and interiors sectors, Designer Contracts remains committed to working alongside industry partners, manufacturers and trade bodies such as the UKSFA to deliver practical solutions that support a more circular and environmentally responsible flooring industry.
